“Winter’s Kiss” releases tomorrow! To give you a taste of each of the novellas, I asked the authors to share their favorite lines.

And You Came Along – Elaine Stock
Five days before Christmas, single parent Jacey Tucker thought the broken pieces of her life were falling into place until an eviction notice and termination at her job sends her and her little boy scrambling out of town.
Zander Paxton, a detective recovering from an injury and loss of faith, needs to start the next season of his life but he isn’t sure how or where. As Jacey heads south and Zander heads north, they get caught in a blizzard…and trapped together in a remote cabin.

“And, then I came along . . . and ruined it?”
She shook her head. “No, don’t you get it? You came along and reversed everything for me.” She palmed the sides of her head. “I’m falling for you, Zander. As in love. The past few days were the most exciting and scariest days of my life. I didn’t want to trust anyone again, but then you came along. I figured if God united us, then it’s meant to be because He knows what He’s doing.”

A Different Kind of Christmas – Carole Towriss
Robinson Taylor Mitchell, unwelcome at home, wants a special someone of his own to celebrate with—someone like Juli, who’s just moved to town but won’t give him the time of day.
Juliana Hellisch won’t be home for Christmas for the first time ever. She’s stuck in Brandon Beach working off school debt as a nanny to an adorable three-year-old. She meets Rob, but there’s no way she’s getting involved with another rich snob, not after what happened last time.

“Why did you run to the water?”
“I chase the birdy.” He pointed to the sandpipers darting among the low tides.
“Even after I said no?”
He nodded yes. “I wanted the birdy.”
“Colby …” Juli blew out a sharp breath. Now what? “If I let you go, are you going to behave or are you going to do it again?”

“I’m gonna do it again.”

Behind her, Rob choked down a laugh. Not helping.

To Gain a Bodyguard – Tanya Eavenson
Undercover ICE agent Madi Reynolds has spent years infiltrating a human-trafficking ring, but when her life is threatened, she is forced to walk away and advised to leave the country.
War Veteran and ICE agent Brice Johnson faces the biggest assignment of his life—protect the woman he loves.

She met his haunting blue eyes and her heart jarred at the intensity of his gaze. To most, he was a war veteran. Undercover, he was Constance’s bodyguard. But to Madi… She wasn’t sure what they were to each other.
A look in his expression made her pause.
Whatever was behind those eyes, his gaze had yet to waver, but hers fell away.
It was those days, deep undercover when he and Madi rarely spent time apart, that he got to know the real Madi. The beauty was passionate about life and loyal to those she loved, and her heart for others tugged at his soul. Like tonight, seeing the tears in her eyes for children she would never know. Sometimes he didn’t think he had a soul, but the Lord, and now Madi, reminded him he did.

Christmas Reflections – Ginger Solomon
Marisol Jones never expects to marry. Most men can’t see past her scars, but Garth Simmons isn’t most men. He doesn’t seem to notice her imperfections and neither does his daughter.

“Your scars don’t define you. They may have shaped the person you are, but they are not who you are. You are God’s child, a princess of the King of Kings. He loves you just as you are. We all have scars, sweetheart. Mine just aren’t as visible. Some of our scars change us, either by making us better people or by making us grumpy, like Mr. Swanson. But even then, the choice is ours — to be better or to be bitter.”

Tropical Kiss and Tell – Liwen Y. Ho
Micah Chan has loved Lucy Choi ever since they were kids, but life—and some regretful decisions—stopped him from pursuing her. Now he has a choice to make: Let her marry another man or break up her engagement to make this Christmas the most memorable one of their lives.

“Lucy? Micah? Get out of the car with your hands up!”
“It’s your dad!” Micah shouted, scrambling for the car handle. “He saw us kissing! I am
so dead.”
She turned and came face-to- face with a police officer glaring into her window. Oh man, Micah was right. They were in so much trouble.

These are my favorite lines because they indicate a turning point in my main characters’ relationship—from friends to something more—and also made for a funny and scary moment when Lucy’s dad found them.

Carousel Christmas – Laura V. Hilton
Romance sparks for Noelle and Nick as they work together to decorate the carousel barn and relationships begin to be healed.

“I’m sorry for hurting you. And just so you know, I forgive you.” She pushed the words past stiffened lips. She’d meant them when she said them to Nick.
But now…? Now she didn’t. But maybe saying the words was the first step. And she could tell Dad she’d forgiven April.
I forgive you.
