By the Waters of Kadesh is now in Kindle!

In celebration, I’ve uploaded the first three chapters on my website. Read without risk!

Kadesh is the sequel to In the Shadow of Sinai, but you don’t have to have read Sinai to enjoy Kadesh. It starts just after the Israelites have escaped Egypt and spent the first year of the Exodus at the base of Mt Sinai, and begun what they believe will be a very short journey to Canaan. It’s based on Numbers 21:1-3.

When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked the Israelites and captured some of them. Then Israel made this vow to the Lord: “If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy their cities.”  The Lord listened to Israel’s plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.

Kamose

Kamose was the captain of the guard in Pharaoh’s palace. He escaped with the Israelites and left everything behind—his job, his family, his country, his gods. He has chosen to worship Yahweh, but he’s new to the ways of the Israelites. When it’s all on the line, can he really trust Yahweh?

tirzah

Tirzah is a young widow. Her husband died during the battle over the Golden Calf—fighting on the wrong side. Now she is expected to marry his brother to ensure his name continues, but his brother—Gaddiel—is just as cruel as he was. Without him, she’ll have no way to support herself or her three-year-old daughters, but what kind of life can she expect with him? Which would be worse?

gaddiel

Gaddiel is chosen as one of the twelve spies charged with the task of scouting out Canaan. But what he really wants is power, prestige, and a name for himself, and he’ll take down Joshua, Caleb or anyone else in his way to get it. Moses can say what he wants, this journey is not about what Canaan has to offer.

You can get By the Waters of Kadesh at Amazon for only $3.99 (Kindle). It’s of course in paperback at Barnes & Noble, Amazon,  Books A Million & DeWard.

  1. “I do just love both these books…It is such an easy read for me…and I love the characters…

I also really love reading and re-reading the stories of Moses and his times…especially through different authors eyes…It really gives me a feel for how it might have been back then…
Oh…and what do the words mean that are at scattered all through the book? (like 3 Tammuz) (or 30 Ziv) (or 29 Ziv)…Got any idea?” Shannon.

I am sure you can answer this question. By the way we love your book. Both of them. Shan is still reading it. I just finished it: )

    1. Debra,
Thanks so much for your kind words! I am so glad you like the books.
Those words are the Israelite months. I put them in there to show the passing of time.
If you like Moses’s story, you’ll love Mesu Andrews’s book Pharaoh’s Daughter that will release next year. I’ve had a preview and it’s fantastic! There are links to several other biblical fiction authors on this page as well.
      Thanks again,
      Carole
